The Service Loop
A one-week experiment from the chapter on Conduct. The hypothesis: the fastest way to raise your own state is to raise the state of the foundation you're standing on.
The Practice
- 01
Each morning, identify one person in your immediate orbit whose week you could meaningfully ease.
- 02
Take one small concrete action for them before noon. No announcement, no expectation.
- 03
At the end of the day, write a single sentence: what shifted in you?
- 04
Repeat for seven days. Vary the person.
- 05
On day seven, read all seven sentences in one sitting.
- 06
Notice the pattern. The pattern is the lesson.
‘If you better everyone else around you, you in turn ensure your own betterment.’ This isn't ethics — it's mechanics.
