About 3V01VE

3V01VE is a learning platform for evolving the mind. The core of the site is a library of meditations and thought experiments — small, repeatable practices designed to widen what you perceive. Around that core sits the material those practices rest on: the philosophy, the mathematics, and the neuroscience of how the human filter is built and where the lever to change it actually is.

The starting premise is older than any of us. Your brain is a survival instrument. It filters tens of millions of bits per second of sensory data down to a reportable trickle of about forty bits, and hands you the edited version with the confident label "reality." That edit was tuned by natural selection for action, not for accuracy. It works — until it stops working. Conditioned responses keep firing in contexts that no longer warrant them. Categorical labels keep collapsing rich situations into thin ones. The observer keeps confusing the icon for the substrate.

The contemplative traditions noticed this thousands of years ago and built protocols for re-tuning the filter. Modern cognitive science — predictive coding, the global workspace, interface theory, the free-energy principle, livewired plasticity — has recently caught up with much of what those traditions claimed, and in some places has gone further. This site brings the two together: practices in plain language, with the underlying science and philosophy available at whatever depth you want to go.

How to use the site

Every chapter and practice has two modes — a toggle in the top right. Beginner is plain language, focused on what to do and what it feels like. Advanced is the full overview: history of the idea, the original experiments, the methodology, the math where relevant, the counterarguments, the open questions. Beginner gets you started. Advanced is for when you want to know why something works, where it came from, and what's actually known versus assumed.

The Citations pillar is the next layer down — annotated walkthroughs of the primary literature, with direct links to the papers so you can verify and extend the work yourself. Eventually this is where breaking findings in cognitive neuroscience will land.
